A 2,000 sq ft Spanish restaurant, “1862,” has arrived at Tai Kwun in Central — 1862 Bar de Tapas y Vino, locatedin the historical site of the former central police station, takes inspiration for its name from the building it occupies. D Hall in the Prison Yard was completed in 1862, offering a glimpse into Hong Kong’s colonial past while you enjoy modern Spanish tapas.
At 1862 Bar de Tapas y Vino, we aim to transport you to the tapas bars of Spain, whether it’s the bustling squares of Madrid or Barcelona, the hidden gems in the narrow streets of San Sebastián, or the quaint seafood marketrestaurants of Galicia. We are bringing a little slice of Spain to Hong Kong.
Chef Simon has created a menu of modern tapas, including 1862 Corn Ribs with a coriander and Galmesano pesto
and Galician Octopus with a Rioja chili sauce, while also honoring traditional tapas bars with dishes such as Ham
Croquettes, Padron Peppers, and Patatas Bravas.
With an area of 2,000 square feet, 1862 offers unique dining experiences for all guests. The open and interactive
kitchen allows you to watch the chefs prepare your delicious tapas. We provide outdoor seating for those who enjoy a
more alfresco atmosphere, as well as indoor dining suitable for larger groups. 1862 also offers a private dining
experience for 8-12 guests, with curated menus for all events, including business meetings, birthdays, office parties, or
simply catching up with friends and family. Our menus feature a specially crafted à la carte selection, as well as set
lunches for those craving Spanish cuisine during the day. Enjoy our Happy Hour menu from 12 PM to 6 PM for those
who need a glass of wine to get through that Monday at work.
